Westminster Abbey

In 2015 Westminster Abbey approached The Cathedral Studios with a collection of stained glass fragments, which had been found under the floorboards high up in the Abbeys Triforium space during the clearing for the Queens Diamond Jubilee Galleries.

The studio catalogued and photographed the fragments numbering the huge sum of 29,860. Many of the fragments have been given a new life and utilised in two new windows, now installed at Westminster Abbey. The fragments representing the lost medieval glazing of the Abbey could not be altered in any way during the creation of the windows. In response to this challenge, The Cathedral Studios developed a new display system. The system called CASUS™ eliminates the technical need for each fragment to be wrapped in lead and allows the whole fragment to be viewed in full.
